Recently, one of our female members, who is a lawyer, renewed her membership. She has been searching for her right person who resides outside of Japan for a long time. However, she has many concerns about marriage. There are her primary concerns.

• 1.  She wants to meet a man who earns more than she earns now.
     Since she earns a lot of money, she wants to meet a man whose annual income is more than 200,000 USD. We understand that she doesn’t want to downgrade her lifestyle that she has now. However, if she says his annual income is the most important criteria, no man will be interested in her.
  2.  She wants to marry, but she is afraid of losing the job she has now.
     She has a great career in Japan, but she knows that she is going to lose her job if she is going to leave Japan and start a new life in her husband’s country.      Since she has a great job and earns a high annual income, she has not been able to make any marriage decisions that would jeopardize her career. Quitting her job and preparing to relocate is not an easy decision for her. It means losing her great career and high income. Getting married to a man outside of Japan is jumping into an uncertain world with no guarantees. Since she knows that marriage would result in many changes, she is afraid to take a chance when she is introduced to a nice gentleman.

We have met many advanced careered Japanese women who are holding similar conflicts. We persuade these kinds of women by telling them, “If you want to get married, you may have to compromise on some of your goals. Don’t wait for a perfect man for a long time! Just try to meet a nice man and take the next step!”

When women spend too much time with no action, they get older and lose the opportunity to have children. Men who want to have children prefer to meet Japanese women under 35 y.o.
