On November 7 and 8, I’ll be back in Tokyo for the last matchmaking weekend I’m hosting in Japan this year. Single Japanese women, and men who’ve made the trip over from abroad, in the same room, for two very different kinds of days.

I’ve run enough of these now to know: come for just one, and you’ll have a good afternoon. Come for both, and you actually give yourself a real shot. So yes, I’m going to say it upfront, I hope you’ll join us for both.

Saturday, November 7: International Speed Dating

This is the classic format, for a reason. You sit down with each woman, one at a time, in a room built to feel easy rather than stiff. Nobody’s expecting fireworks in five minutes. You’re just there to notice, is there something here worth following up on?

Time: 1:00–3:30 PM
Fee: $150

Sunday, November 8: A Day in Shonan

Sunday looks nothing like Saturday. We leave the meeting room behind entirely and spend the day out in Shonan, walking, having lunch together, rotating through small groups as the day goes on.

There’s no timer running. No five-minute cutoff. Just hours of ordinary time together, which, if you’ve ever actually fallen for someone, is usually where it happens.

Time: 10:30 AM–4:00 PM
Fee: $200 (lunch included)

Why I keep pushing people toward both

Here’s what I’ve noticed, doing this work for as long as I have. A few minutes across a table tells you whether there’s a spark. It tells you almost nothing about who someone actually is, how patient they are, how they treat people when nobody’s performing for a match, whether their kindness holds up over the course of a long day.

That only shows up with time. Which is exactly what Sunday is for.

Both events together run $350 normally.

Register by October 5, and it’s $300 for both, $50 back in your pocket.

From October 6 onward, it goes back to the regular $350.
