Los Angeles Poolside BBQ Matchmaking Event Report Beyond “That was fun!” — Turning your international marriage dream into reality

On September 20, TJM hosted an exclusive matchmaking event in Los Angeles — our Poolside BBQ Party — and we are thrilled to share that it was a great success!

A total of 34 participants (17 men and 17 women) joined, supported by two wonderful BBQ chefs, and two TJM matchmakers representing both U.S. coasts — Miyoko from the West Coast and Naoko from the East Coast.

We were also deeply grateful to the TJM graduate couple who kindly offered their beautiful home as the venue.
The event brought together guests not only from Los Angeles but also from Northern California (San Jose and San Francisco) and even from across the country — New York, Boston, Georgia, Chicago, Michigan, Maryland, and Florida.

The atmosphere was filled with energy, excitement, and heartfelt intentions toward international marriage.
The weather couldn’t have been better — a perfect, cloudless California day.

With a relaxing poolside setting and lush green surroundings, everyone enjoyed lively icebreaker games and conversations, naturally bridging cultural and personal distances.

After each TJM event, we often receive the question:
“When is the next event?”

Of course, participating in events is exciting and valuable, but we always remind our members — attending events repeatedly without achieving progress can lead to what we call “event fatigue.”
At TJM, what truly matters is commitment to results.

Our events are a starting point — a bridge to meaningful connections that lead to marriage.

When joining a TJM event, we encourage participants to have a strong mindset:
“This time, I’m going to find my match.”
And remember, the support doesn’t end when the event ends.
Our matchmakers personally follow up with each participant via individual Zoom sessions to discuss next steps and help nurture the connections made during the event.
In many cases, matches that don’t fully blossom on the day of the event evolve beautifully during these follow-ups.
So rather than saying, “That was a fun event,” let’s focus on turning that positive experience into the beginning of your marriage journey.

The Los Angeles event was especially inspiring because so many people traveled across state lines to join.
Among Japanese women living in the U.S., there are many who dream of international marriage but spend most of their days between home and work, surrounded mainly by Japanese communities.
