This is a report on the event held in Tokyo on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Rather than a matchmaking event, it was a gathering where matchmakers and members came together to discuss dating strategies and effective cross-cultural communication.

On May 17th, we hosted a special women’s meetup event in Tokyo.

While the gathering was designed for single Japanese women to discuss international relationships, It was great to have one gentleman join us.—an overseas guest—who joined us for the event. His presence added a valuable dynamic, allowing participants to share honest perspectives in a real cross-cultural setting.

He was able to listen directly to Japanese women’s hopes, questions, and even concerns about international marriage—something that few foreign men have a chance to experience firsthand.

This kind of opportunity is rare, but incredibly meaningful.

About Visa Processing

At our recent event, a Japanese woman who met her husband through TJM last year and got married kindly joined us to share her experience. Despite having submitted her spouse visa application in May 2024, she is still waiting for it to be approved as of May 2025.
What does this tell us?

Even for couples who are already married, the current situation often requires more than a year to obtain a visa. If you are currently in a relationship, please keep this reality in mind and begin planning with your partner as soon as possible. Decide together on a realistic timeline for when you hope to start living together, and then work backward to determine your priorities. Take action each day to move closer to that goal.

This is especially crucial for couples who wish to have children. One year can feel like a very long time. Some Japanese women are even taking proactive steps such as freezing their eggs in preparation for possible delays.
For men, this is the time to take initiative. If you are serious about building a future with your partner, please make clear decisions and move forward with confidence and intention.

About Communication in English

In the U.S., WhatsApp is commonly used as a communication tool. However, over 90% of Japanese people use a different app called LINE. If you are considering marriage with a Japanese woman and haven’t yet downloaded LINE, we strongly recommend that you install it on your smartphone.

LINE offers a unique feature that can be incredibly helpful when communicating across languages. It includes an AI-powered real-time translation tool for text messages. When you type in English, your message will instantly appear in Japanese on her screen. Likewise, if she types in Japanese, the message will be automatically translated into English for you.

During our recent event, we tried out this feature together, and many participants found it surprisingly easy and effective.
